Job Description :

The Human Resources Project Manager will support the delivery of projects related to HR initiatives across the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, and working closely with the HR Team, the role will blend both knowledge of HR process and best practice with a clear understanding of project management. This individual will also play an integral role in overseeing delivery of HR project activity associated with business change. Key Accountabilities include:

  • Work with the Business Units and HR Team to ensure the delivery of key project milestones on time, within budget, resource and policy
  • Work through key HR policies and initiatives, such as mergers and acquisitions and reorganization, communicating with the HR team and managers in the business
  • Take a lead role in due diligence and review for pending mergers and acquisitions and oversee the project through to integration.
  • Clearly and concisely present and communicate key people data to HR colleagues and other stakeholders in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Devise and manage a regular project reporting mechanism for the HR team and relevant business leaders.
  • Collaboratively work with other parts of the Jonas organization to identify dependencies and report to key stakeholders.
  • The ideal candidate will have a practical understanding and experience in key HR process and practice. Be ready and able to take the initiative and identify where value can be added.
  • Possess a proven background in managing projects with a keen understanding of the project management discipline and best practices in the Canadian/USA market with the ability to navigate and deploy various HR elements to address different businesses
  • Data, metrics savvy, and an expert in relevant office applications, particularly in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Define the Human Resources project management strategies and approach in terms of effort, impact and risk.
  • Assist in the prioritization and assignment of work streams within the projects
  • Develop and document the risk and issue management processes to be used in the project
  • Provide organization common systems for designing and measuring work processes, seeking to reduce variances in organization processes, delivering the highest-quality results which meet the needs and requirements of the organization
  • Take time to understand how the organization works; comfortable completing work through formal channels and the informal networks  
  • Evaluate and review policies, procedures and initiatives, coming up with new and unique ideas that would benefit the team and organization
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on progress. Recommend corrective actions and ensure execution of approved corrective actions
  • Successfully meet or exceed goals and expectations, steadfastly pushing self and others to succeed
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a project manager
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working within a Human Resources function or discipline
  • Hands on experience with mergers and acquisitions in terms of due diligence and integration
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably with focus on business/human resources
  • Ability to manage a process to get things done; organizing activities and people
  • Bottom-line oriented, with the ability to push self and others to succeed
  • Understanding of the impacts of organizational change on Operations, HR and Finance related to mergers and acquisitions, policy and risk management/controls
  • The ideal candidate enjoys taking on challenges, is full of energy and action oriented  
  • Strong communications skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
